Non Residential DV & Children’s Advocate

Job Purpose: Provides domestic violence advocacy through case management support reflective of The Wellspring Alliance for Families mission which is to strengthen the well being and development of families and individuals.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
  • Knowledge of community job, financial, and social resources
  • Two years experience working with people

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Delivers services by:
    • Determining the nature of the client’s needs by interviewing the client and conducting social assessments
    • Establishing a course of action by assisting the client with exploring options and setting financial and personal goals
    • Assist clients with preparing resumes, interview skills, budget planning, and soft skills to maintain a job
    • Obtaining assistance for the client by referring to appropriate community resources, arranging for appointments, and establishing rapport with other agencies
    • Develop contacts with local businesses in order to find out about job opportunities for our clients
    • Educate business contacts about the dynamics of domestic violence and about workplace domestic violence policies
    • Fostering client’s action by interpreting attitudes and patterns of behavior explaining and pointing out new options
    • Demonstrating a positive attitude through word and action
    • Demonstrating concern and respect for others by listening carefully and without judgment
    • Establishing personal rapport with clients
    • Maintaining case records by documenting client activity and actions
    • Monitoring progress of client set goals and regular follow-up

    • Complying with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing the adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
